Probably the only way serial killers should be portrayed, with no regard for aestheticising, romanticising, or glorifying. This is a man driven by his desire to invoke fear and death, it doesn’t matter that he understands himself, that he’s understood by psychologists, that his past has created this monster; he is moved by a frenzied and brutal hunger that trumps all empathy or logic. He is not impressive, actually he’s a loser, like all men who commit acts like this, there is nothing redeemable to see here. Similarly to The Golden Glove, I think this is one of the best illustrations of a serial killer that I will never watch again.
