The other day, I was talking to a friend in a stale, run-down bar, one of those places where people avoid eye contact and seem either sad or simply exhausted. He told me about his job. The one he had dreamed of for years, the one that had cost him countless hours of hard work, sacrifice, and sleepless nights. He spoke about how, by living for the future, he had neglected the present, while that glossy, plastic vision of success refused to leave his mind. As it turned out, behind the facade of the dream he had been chasing all those years there was nothing but stress, endless working hours, and even more sleepless nights. Although my own mind is filled with more of those artificial illusions than I could ever count, I hope that if I ever get my hands on a One Wish Willow, I’ll be able to wish for everything to stay exactly as it is.
