Se7enBrandon9.8· April 29, 2024Follow"What's in the box?" ....What the actual fuck.... Hmmm.. I don't even know where to start, let's just start by saying that was the most intense 20 minutes of me life ever, and it didn't even happen to me. Oh God, and to think I doubted this film at first and now around 45 minutes since I finished, I'm still thinking about it. Brad Pitt as David Mills is absolutely insane with this performance, he gives such an amazing performance that's different from the ones I've watched so far. Especially in the last 20 minutes he gives it his all, it doesn't feel like he's acting, he just completely disappears into the character and you can feel all his fuvking sadness and emotions. For Morgan Freeman as Somerset, he nails the role, his character is the more experienced version of Mills, he's always a step forward Infront of Mills and man, it hits so bad when you see his expression when he opens the box, he does his best to run as fast as he can, God, man! The story from the beginning is very interesting with really severe gore from the dead bodies which are really sickening from the first sin to the last. Oh God, the cinematography as well is insane with some shots hitting so hard. The scenes in the rain where we see John Doe for the first or well...second time is so beautifully shot especially near the end of that sequence. The Academy snubbed the fuvk out of this movie, it's crazy. Not even best actor or even supporting for Brad Pitt or MORGAN FREEMAN!! They put out so many clues from Mills being such a family guy and an emotional guy leading to that ending and Somerset retiring to not because as he says "Ernest Hemingway once wrote, "The world is a fine place and worth fighting for." I agree with the second part." Man, I can't wait to rewatch this to find all the easter eggs and all. Fincher really excels at intensity, Zodiac and this brought my adrenaline up a lot in a lot of scenes and how has he not won an Oscar yet. The story is absolutely brilliant, written by Andrew Kevin Walker, the dialogues are very brilliant and never gets boring. I'm gonna go find a copy of this script after this. The seven deadly sins are really really creepy especially since I've never dived into it before.... except for Shazam at least.... And it shows so much horrifying images of the sins in reality. Speaking about that, John Doe is a really terrifying villain that is given such a great performance.... To the moments before his death he is frightening and literally knows that he will win. I do hope, I really do that one day I get to see this masterpiece in the theaters. Overall, I'm actually not lying, I swear, I only knew there was a box at the end and 30 minutes before the reveal I thought to myself what if Tracy was cut up and put inside the box.... imagine the absolute shock and where my jaw landed.CommentsSign in to react and join the conversation.Sign inGet the app
