F1
It’s only been about 30 minutes since I got out of this movie so I’m on a bit of a high for this rating. First I have to make it clear that I’m very behind on my movies because I have never seen either of the Top Gun movies. Going into F1, I had high expectations for the action because of the high standard set by Top Gun Maverick. I feel that the action of the movie was definitely where I wanted it to be. The loud engines, cool camera angles, quick movements. It was all put together so nicely. One thing I both appreciate and hate is the ending. (Spoilers) At the end when Sunny wins the race, it track back to when he talks about the zone he gets in when all he cares about in life is racing. When the noise goes out, the other racers don’t matter, his car is fully controlled by him. I feel like this is perfectly displayed in the final lap. However, I both love this and hate this because I wish it was a little more suspenseful. I feel like when I saw him go into that calm and focused state then all that suspense disappeared and right away I knew he won, and I had to sit through about a minute of knowing he won before the race ended. Another tiny touch I loved was the card in his pocket at the end of the race. I so wish that it showed what card it was, but I’m so happy they left it open for interpretation. I think it should be the 9 of clubs because he was the “9th” racer, others might think it’s the 7 of clubs because it was on his uniform. Whatever it is, I love this detail and how his cards are kinda his good luck and somewhat of a encouragement to him. Overall I feel this movie has little to no flaws in my opinion, but it simply can’t reach the 9 or 10 level for me simply because of how I like my movies. 9 is for the wow factor movies, and 10 is for the speechless and blown away movies. This movie doesn’t quite make those benchmarks, and for that I give it as close as possible to those requirements, thus F1 is a 8/10
