Superman

It was about time that the DC Universe got a shine of greatness. I’m a huge fan of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies and going into this, I knew James Gunn would put in the work to make this movie great. I went into this with pretty high expectations and I’d say I’m pretty satisfied. Some things that didn’t quite work for me were some of the comedic scenes. I felt like the times when the movie tried to fit in some humor it was kinda corny and didn’t really do it for me. I feel like in superhero movies it all started with Marvel and in their prime they did a really good job of adding jokes but not taking anything away from the movie, and it’s hard to replicate that, but it has to be done somehow. Another con for me about this movie is the lack of it being just a Superman movie. I’ve only been to so many DC movies, but for some reason I feel like there always has to be a team of people instead of just focusing on the main character. For example, the newest Flash movie had the Flash, Supergirl, and Batman all on a team. This movie felt the need to have Hawk Girl, Green Lantern, and Mr. Terrific. I would simply just like to see a solo movie that is about the main character and a couple side characters. I feel like every superhero movie now needs to be the Avengers and have a whole team. I liked how Marvel did it and how for example Iron Man was all alone for the most part and was up against one main villain, not a group of 3 or 4 villains like in this movie. Those are my main concerns, but by no means do this bring this movie down a whole lot. I love the acting of this movie, I love the sound and music of this movie, and I especially love that even though Superman’s parents told him to take over, he didn’t care and decided to be the hero and be human. And one final thing… Make Superman’s laser eyes more powerful. I’m done seeing his lasers barely cut through armor. Those things should be slicing through so much more. Good movie, 8/10
