Loving Vincent
This is the most beautiful piece of art I’ve ever seen. The story is wonderful, especially it being based on a real man. The story of a painter, and the story of his death, retold again and again through the views of different people, all knowing him differently and appreciating him differently. The way they format this story is excellent, with every new piece of information you get from a new character, you think you’ve got the mystery of Vincent’s death solved, but then you’re immediately proven wrong by the next piece of information or even a little anecdote about Vincent. The characters, mainly Armand, were so well made and real, it’s astonishing. Armand being driven by the fire of his curiosity, that fire burning brighter with each person he talked to, was the perfect execution of a story about Vincent Van Gogh. And, I obviously cannot forget to mention the animation. Every frame, every single one, was painted by hand in the same style that Vincent painted in. What a perfect way to commemorate such an important man to the world of art, and the paintings were amazing. I could honestly spend hours staring at these frames, there’s so much detail in the movie, each brush stroke adding to the artestry of it all, it’s beautiful. If you have any love for painting or for the history of art, or if you just love animated movies or films that showcase human excellence, this movie is for you and I highly recommend watching it.
