Moonrise Kingdom
This movie was absolutely wonderful. It’s no surprise that a Wes Anderson movie has good color grading, but holy this was another level. This movie beautifully depicts each scene, the nature and the homes of the island perfectly matched the mood and atmosphere of this film. And, speaking of that, the nature and settings of this movie were amazing. It made this film have a sort of beauty and whimsy that I just love to see, complimenting the tone of the movie. The characters, as I would describe, fit into this rare genre of character type: wonderfully miserable. Each of the characters, from Sam and Suzy to the island police and the scout master, all had their own conflicts, implicit and explicit, that I feel gave this movie its seriousness. That’s another thing about this movie I love, it’s fun but knows how to be serious when it needs to be. The story was great, and Anderson’s cinematic abulity really drove it to the fullest potential, I love to see it. What I loved most was how every little detail in the dialogue or how the characters acted toward each other or even just how they interacted with their environment perfectly encapsulates their character, its subtle but so necessary. That’s all I have to say, I really enjoyed this movie and recommend it if you have the time.
