Maniac
Ah, The Good Place for film students.
For real tho, Maniac is such a good series. Everything falls in line here—the deep understanding of the themes in the writing is aided by top notch performances from every cast member. The awkward, tongue in cheek humor is heightened by an interesting and perfectly fitting visual aesthetic. All meticulously blended to create something funny, trippy, vomit-inducing, touching, and heartbreaking, sometimes all in a single episode.
The pace definitely drags in the second half, but that doesn’t take away from this being a brave and unique take on science fiction and mental health.
