The Substance
Loveee Demi Moore Love Margaret Qualley. This movie has a really great concept and the body horror was so realistic and disturbing. I wasn't a huge fan of the ending because the "substance" was pretty realistic given the ozempic and plastic surgery/ botox epidemic, but the ending made it feel more like a ridiculous gory film rather than reinforcing the mature and complicated aspects. But the ending was intentionally over-the-top to reflect how far she went- and is funny when watching with friends. The mood of the film was very isolated- even when elizabeth/ sue encountered other characters it still felt like she was completely alone, which added a lot to the film. I also feel like this movie has some elements addressing addiction as well- because Elizabeth was in so deep she kept hurting herself more. The cinematography was fabulous I do believe there could've been a better ending.
"You can't escape from yourself."
