Hell's Angels
You listen to my brother, I won't tell you anything
That clap scene in The Aviator, on Hell's Angel premiere reflects perfectly how the public felt at the time watching the film, as an outstanding total MASTERPIECE.
The production behind Hell's Angel is known for being a total madness, it happened plenty of accidents, a lot of re-shoots, Hughes lost a bunch of money, and all suffering and perfeccionism Hughes was aiming is something reflected in this incredible final result.
In Era where mostly all special effects are made with CGI, to realize all that flying scenes, all the explosion and scenarios are for real, is something unbelieveable. Through pure spectacle, Hughes portrays the cruelty of war by a brilliant visual storytelling, with a minimalistic exploration of the soldier's dual psicology, maybe for some the dialogues feels antiquate nowadays (understandable because the film was originally planned as in a silent format) but I'm not completely agree because even the films has several memorable quotes, especially in the final act, and for being something of the 30s is completely well developed in that aspect.
A film that deserves to be considered among the most important films in history, a masterpiece that everyone who wants to dig depeer in film history needs to watch and appreciate.
