Inception
Welcome home, Cobb
*Reality vs Fantasy, that's the central question Inception* asks you
**
There's a line in the film made by Elliot Page's character that says: "I'm just trying to understand". And that sole question probably defines how the spectator felt while is watching Inception.
I think people overreact calling the film as very complicate to get, I mean, maybe it is if you don't pay attention (?) but isn't complex at all, in fact, I find it more digerible than other Nolan films such as Following, Memento or The Prestige; and those films I didn't find it impossible though, despite its non-linear narrative.
That said, it's true is a film that you need to watch in detail to a more coherent experience and is asking to engage with what you're watching, I truly get why the praise, easily became my favorite Nolan movie and his most personal work, those 10 years he spent developing the script is reflected with the final result; and as always, Nolan delivers a brilliant and original direction, I'm not gona deny that I missed his non-linear narrative from his earlier work, but even with a conventional story telling still pregnant that complex human layers and mystery.
In overall, is a movie that truly nows how to use the concept of dream scenarios, developing a very human story about guilt, depression, will to move forward but without being capable of forget that mistake that change radically the course of your life, all that, for playing things we don't now, but even if we struggle facing reality, at the end is better to face the truth than living in fictional scenarios, and with this particular mission, Cobb finally reached the answer of what he was struggling, plenty of human layers, delivered through a brilliant use of the cinematic language, just as always Nolan do
As always, Christopher Nolan proves that there is not limit for a blockbuster for being ART; and honestly, are films as Inception that blockbuster cinema needs to aspire.
And by the way; and like it often comes this comparison between elitists....
