Midsommar
Not sure I fully grasped all the themes thrown at me. However, this film was extremely dense and would be interesting to revisit in the future. I did feel that it was lacking thematic focus at times , but that could’ve been purposely done, who knows.
I quite enjoyed the technical aspects which induced paranoia to the viewer. For example, at the start when they first pull into the field, the camera twists and moves upside down. I remember feeling physically dizzy, which is quite a remarkable feat and compliment to the director. It was also foreshadowing of what was to come.
Might possibly be the most fucked up film that I’ve watched. But that doesn’t mean i didn’t enjoy it, it was a captivating psychological trip—and although it doesn’t have the traditional characteristics of a horror film, it left me more scarred and shaken.
