Poor Things
this movie is so disgustingly beautiful.
i am so perplexed and disturbed all throughout. everything is bizarre. a pregnant woman who committed suicide was brought to life by transplanting the brain of her fetus to her own head, what the actual fuck... and then this baby's brain develops inside the skull of her mother— experienced the pain, the horror, excitement, love, despair, empathy, and acceptance.
the message of the story is deep and profound for me. the execution was quite flawed. yet, it is still successful. i think all the horror experienced by bella, that's what they want for us to feel. they want the audience to feel disgust, hate, sadness, and shame.
it's like viewing feminism and womanhood through the eyes of a man—which is fucked up, and i felt that. and that's the point.
