Chainsaw Man
Well I finally binged through the whole series just to see the new movie.
I mainly watched because my friend has been subliminally recommending it to me (basically he keeps referencing the series).
All I knew from this series was just what Denji looked in demon mode (I was actually disappointed when my friend told me that he transforms into that, I thought he lives in that form forever lol), and that “it’s about a guy who wants to cop a feel” - this alone made me think that I was getting into a gag shonen, like One Punch Man…
I did read the mangaka’s other manga, Goodbye Eri - and that was probably enough to make me confuse with what I was getting into watching this.
The animation is pretty top-notch, and probably one of the most brutal anime that I’ve seen.
The idea of a character that’s part man - part chainsaw is probably the aspect that I liked most about the series. But I’ll be honest, it got boggled down for me when they introduced other Shonen tropes (eg. a team trio that consists of an edge lord, a girl, & main character, an organisation that fights demons but is willing to work with the nicer ones under specific conditions, the main character is a demon or has demonic powers, etc.).
Well anyway, I might see the new film tomorrow so hopefully I’ll be cool with it (I don’t really trust reviews for them because anime fans on this app really overhype them).
