rewatching before sunset after heartbreak felt like being violently humbled. i cried through the entire film because of how deeply i relate to celine now, and honestly i wish i didn’t. “i feel i was never able to forget anyone i’ve been with.” that line destroyed me because heartbreak is never just losing a person. it’s grieving the version of yourself that existed with them, the softness you had, the things you believed about love before reality corrected you. “i guess when you’re young, you just believe there’ll be many people with whom you’ll connect with. later in life, you realize it only happens a few times.” and i think that’s exactly why this hurts so much. i value deep connections so deeply, which makes it even more devastating not just to lose someone, but to sit there wondering if what i thought we had was ever even one of those rare connections at all, or if i just got emotionally scammed by my own hope 😭

Oh I loooooove movies that make you feel reborn!
