Millennium Mambo
this movie struck a conversation between me and my mom about the way we watch movies. she told me that she didn’t feel satisfied with the ending, she didn’t like the lack of resolution and stakes, and i realised that for me, a film’s enjoyment is secondary. i care more about being immersed, and for the span of the movie, i adopt all the problems and grievances of the characters, and for 2 hours, my phone, my worries, don’t exist. i just ride the atmosphere of the movie, feel the feelings that the world gives me, and for the duration of the film, i don’t exist and nothing else matters
“as if under a spell, or hypnotised… she couldn’t escape.”
