A phenomenal sequel, that lives up to it‘s predecessors genius and forms some kind of antithesis to it.
Chow‘s development is incredibly interesting and he is acted perfectly once again by Toney Leung. Faye Wong is as magnificent as she was in Chungking Express and the rest of the cast are fantastic as well.
Also the way Chow‘s feelings blend into the story he is writing is fascinating and the sci-fi sequences make for probably the best visuals out of Wong Kar Wai‘s filmography.
I mean, overall the movie looks and sounds just as captivating as In the mood for love, but those scenes stood out to me the most.
So this is a more then worthy sequel, a masterclass that rivals its predecessors brilliance and makes me fall even deeper in love with Wong Kar Wai‘s style of story telling and filmmaking
