Pride & Prejudice
from sinners to this in theaters i feel spoiled. genuinely spectacular to see with a crowd giggling along (one exemption for phones in theaters for the woman in front of me who got excited and pointed at the screen and her friends were confused so she had to show it was her phone background— understandable and very funny moment).
reflecting on why movies like this and sinners work (beyond showing that we do still in fact have ~faces~), are the gorgeously captured lush landscapes and the creativity of the blocking. ngl i didn’t think about it as much but in the face of the mcu doing whatever these days and christopher mcq always doing it so well, movies that actually use the language of it make it all feel like a painting. fantastic.
speaking of chris mcq, he said once that if you’re procrastinating you should do something worthwhile instead and this definitely counts.
