Dune

For someone who has been waiting for AGES for this to become available on a streaming service, it did not disappoint.  The movie is grand! With a prime and fleshed out cast, stunning cinematography and a very epic story. I have to say that most of the film felt like backstory, getting to know the characters, the stakes and the world that is Arrakis. However, it was not the type of backstory that felt irrelevant and time wasting, it was very relevant and importance to the upcoming of Paul Atreides.  The last half an hour of the movie was my favourite with the Atreides’ encounter with Shai- Hulud, to the kanly between Atreides and Jamis. In these moments we really see what I believe to be the real beginning of the story, as Chani says, “This is only the beginning,” and indeed it is.  It sets up a great ending for a sequel to take over for audience to see potentially how far and of great potential Paul Atreides becomes in this story.
