Donnie Darko
An interesting twist on the tine-travel trope with an intruging ending.
It really seems like I would have enjoyed it more as it seems to have most things that I would want from a movie- interesting visual aesthetic, complex and creative themes, an unexpected resolution and so on.
My biggest problem is the portrayal of the main charater- considering how creative the whole movie was it is a bot odd how basic his characteristics are and I did not feel anything for him or any other characters which in my opinion is the movie's weakest point. I feel like all concepts were great but we're not presented in an engaging enough way and without help from other sources it was a bit hard to understand at times (granted, I wasn't paying as much attention in some moments as I needed to, which is my fault) and wish the movie had
flesh them out more.
I really hoped I would like it more but it was still enjoyable.
