Poor Things
I watched this film to relax and it was the worst idea ever. This movie is kind of disturbing, but it takes people's attention. The realisation is sooo good.
At the beginning, the film is in black and white until she starts to discover the world.
Plus, I love the metaphor behind this movie. It criticizes pedophilia but also influence. The girl has an adult body but in reality, she's an enfant, and the man played by Mark Ruffalo (who delivers a great performance) is taking advantage of the fact she knows nothing, to seduce her, just like most of the people she meets after.
Then, the girl becomes a prostitute to earn money because it was the easiest way to have money as a woman by that time, and because the woman who leads the brothel enrolls her thanks to manipulation.
This film denounces the instrumentalization of women's bodies. If you look closely, the only decision she makes alone is the one at the end of the film. She realizes she doesn't need the men who were manipulating her and she finally escapes. The film criticizes influence.
It is a kind of tale that shows the hard reality of life, while growing up, the girl faces new challenges and realises the world she always wanted to see isn't as beautiful as they thought it was.
An excellent movie.
