Again, Phoenix’s expression acting is masterful. Here’s a potent realization of not simply the flowers and horrors of love, longing and loneliness, but the realest sense of inadequacy. The dominative spirit in regards to ones need for love is cemented for the sake of emotional convenience. Unlike a Poor Things or a Ruby Sparks or hundreds of other films of men doing their best to mold and capture another, I’m able to truly empathize with the ugliness in Phoenix’s role. This movie is at the point that the essence of its plot relating to artificial intelligence is forgotten, and in its place is a near perfect love story.

There’s something going on that I just wasn’t apart of unfortunately. I have to assume everyone has experience with the show that predated this, if not it’s beyond me why this is exactly as infinitely brilliant and hysterical as its audience screams it to be. I’ve genuinely never heard a theater laugh louder and as consistently in my life. Like wild hyenas at every single beat of a scene. Genuinely the person behind me hurt my ears. I thought it was pretty funny and admirable filmmaking, but not nearly that much! I’m trying to put aside my unpleasant viewing experience and remember this as a pretty good movie. A generous 4
