The Comedy

This movie being seen as a “white hipster critique” is dumb. This exemplifies white male nihilism perfectly. Swanson and his friends are guys you know in your city who have been handed everything and because of that he becomes numb to the world. Saying Hitler had good ideas, treating his friends like shit, being racist but in a “cool guy” way, spending money thats not his, treating women like objects, etc.  How sad that I know many guys in their 20’s and 30’s a lot like Swanson. Numb and apathetic to the life they’ve been given. Pretending to be something they’re not. Being anyone but themselves because being sincere is nothing they had to do and their real selves are insufferable. I really liked the subtle but stinger of at the end when hes playing with child and smiling…it’s the only “warm” colored shot in the movie. Everything else is gray or cold.
