This is criminally underrated and really isn't talked about enough, it's a film that slowly progresses into something much darker. I love the opening to the film and they mix comedy and darkness well. I think the full circle idea is really good too because the start isn't clear until you finish the film. There's a lot of different things to appreciate in this film. The characters are good, they aren't as detailed as other characters in Danny Boyles's films but they are entertaining to watch and each character has a little quirk that makes them perfect flatmates. The colours are gorgeous in this film, you could easily analyse this by looking at colour theory and understanding all the metaphors at play. The editing is very crisp and is cleverly pieced together. The story isn't completely predictable, there's some surprises throughout and in some ways it feels like it takes bits from Trainspotting, but the themes are pretty different. Ewan McGregor is in his element with this one, he is great and uses his natural voice which is always fun to see. Christopher Eccleston plays his character really well, I probably need to watch more from him. Kerry Fox is really good in this too and is a lovely addition to the cast. Danny Boyle is a very talented director, I usually like what he does and I think this is definitely one that isn't talked about enough, on rewatch it still holds up well and I feel it's one people should know more about, there's some lovely shots and scenes throughout and the colours and costumes are very detailed in design.

This is definitely going to be a sleeper one, not everyone will appreciate or enjoy it and I get that but I really did have a good time with it. I will say at points it drags and there's definitely flaws within the film but on first watch it feels fresh and funny, with a lot of charm. The trailers don't give away too much, there's plenty to enjoy and the whole premise is silly but it doesn't take itself too seriously and feels self aware, not every joke lands but there's a lot of laugh out loud moments. The two characters make the film, they both are fascinating and entertaining, they put a good amount of depth into the characters and they create a simple way to connect them, it's a simple will they won't they, but it's not your traditional rom com and that's what I like about it. I enjoy a romantic comedy that has something unique to it and I definitely feel this has that. It's the same people that did Anyone but You and I get those vibes, I think this was better than that film. I'm surprised with critics reactions but they don't always go for these type of films, I think this will remain underrated and it's a shame because I think it's a good one that people should give a chance. Callum Turner is someone who I'm impressed with and want to keep watching, his chemistry with Monica Barbaro is very convincing and it makes the film because it feels very natural. I felt a great amount of pleasure and enjoyment with this film and that's really what cinema is all about.

I can't believe that this film was shelved, it's scary to think that this film was nearly not brought to light and I think that would be a real shame for everyone involved because it's so clear how much time and effort went into this film. When I was younger I loved Looney Tunes Back in Action and Space Jam, as well as other live action and cartoon hybrid films, Space Jam 2 tried to replicate that feeling again and failed so I'm glad to see it thriving again. The story is smart and inventive, it's really cool how they explain all the Looney tunes lore and also manage to create meaning to the old cartoons of Coyote and Road Runner. I easily could have just watched both Coyote and Roadrunner but it was really nice to get lots of different characters and Kevin makes a good main character to the cartoons, it's also nice to see that the supporting characters are just as good. The Looney Tunes references are great and the comedy is timed really well. The whole cast is great, Will Forte and John Cena make interesting rivals, PJ Byrne is fun to watch too and I enjoyed Lana Condor and the character that she played..I really want to see more of this again, I hope it's not the end of Looney Tunes and films about cartoons and real life because it is very effective when done right, I really want to rewatch it again at some point.
