Noticed that I rated this movie without actually writing a review. Uhh, I honestly feel like this is THE most overhated movie in the MCU. As my rating shows, I’m not super duper high on it, but my God people absolutely despise this movie 😂. It’s straight dawg. I mean, I was also a Hulk kid growing up, and before the Mark Ruffalo switch, THIS was the Hulk that my fandom was built on, so maybe there’s some nostalgia bias there. But I genuinely don’t think the movie is all around terrible. The love interest arc is kinda wack, and I’m not too big on Blonsky/Abomination as a villain in this, but I’ll argue that this is the best version of the Hulk we’ve gotten on screen. The best transformations (BY FAR), the scariest, and just the best looking Hulk in my opinion. Not a great movie by any means, but nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be.

Ight, so my first review of this movie was a 7.7. I initially thought it was pretty overrated, but something told me to give it another watch because I honestly didn’t remember it that well. I’ve now realized I just wasn’t as locked in during my first viewing because this is actually a really good movie 😂. A lot of the comedy and callbacks landed for me this time around because they felt pretty natural and fitting with the characters. I REALLY enjoyed Hela as a villain, and the lore surrounding Odin’s true past was a nice touch as well. I also think this is probably the best representation of Thor and Loki’s dynamic with each other. Great film. I definitely tweaked on the first review.

Officially going back to watch some of the films that were considered “filler,” since my main objective with the marathon was Doomsday prep. This movie was another case of being overhated, but still not good. I didn’t even hate the story; it was just very boring. Malekith was a weak villain, the action was pretty weak overall, and the gravity portals being the key to victory was just really uninteresting to me. This movie was really just good for Loki PR and nothing else, but it’s not the worst ever like I’ve seen it called.

Second best movie in this series for me, right behind First Class. This movie had some REALLY cool scenes. The kitchen scene with Quicksilver is probably the best in the entire series, a toss-up between that and the Nightcrawler White House scene. I also think I’m ready to crown Fassbender as the best portrayal of Magneto. He’s just been way too perfect in this role these last two movies. He really captures Erik’s anger, pain, and overall presence. The list of cinematic “villains,” if we truly classify him as one, that I’d take over him has gotten very short, mostly due to Fassbender’s portrayal. One thing I do wish we got more of was opportunities to see the past and future versions of the characters on screen together at the same time. We somewhat got that with Charles, but I think it would’ve been cool to see more of that with some of the other characters too, especially with a movie built around time travel. Something like Endgame did with its characters. Besides that one critique, very solid movie. Definitely one of the best in the series.
