Spider-Man 2
One of those movies that by the end of it, you feel stupid even thinking that any other movie is better than it. It’s got so much heart and earnestness; there’s a play in the beginning of the movie that’s literally called THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST 😅. The first 20 minutes or so are some of the best writing in a superhero movie I’ve seen, and the last 20 some of the most emotionally riveting. The characters are given even more weight and the performances blossom because of it, the cinematography and lighting are more dramatic and impressive, and stakes are even higher this time. It might not have the same pop and grit the first movie had, but it more than makes up for it with how emotionally driven the entire thing is. An incredible roller coaster of charm and amazement, and an amazing feet of comic book filmmaking. Easily among the greatest ever put to screen. I’m so lucky to finally have seen it in theaters, it’ll always be personally one of the most important movies in my life, and one of the most influential as well 🥹.
