Bottle Rocket
Good movie, great as a debut for Wes, plus acting debut for Owen Wilson. It doesn't feel that much like a Wes Anderson movie, as he didn't find his style yet, which you can clearly see with him experimenting with lots of different types of shots. And yet you can still see the roots for his later directing genius. Where this movie really succeedes is it's script. While there are some parts obviously written by Owen and others obv by Wes, most of the movie has balanced dialogue, showing off simple moments as special. Also one of the best playfuly romantic sideplots I've ever seen, the story would be nothing without Inez. The soundtrack never misses in Anderson's movies. The only complaint is that it could've been about 20 minutes shorter, most of the scenes with Mr Henry felt like they could've been cut. But the second Inez showed up again the movie reignited it's charm. The chemistry between the trio is insane and the reason everything works, and that is the one thing missing when Owen's character separates from the others.
