Obsession
Obsession is everything a horror movie should be, engaging, unsettling, relatable and eerie. The horror of the movie came from the thinking of the plight of the obsesser and the control of the object of obsessed. How easily people can be swayed to do wrong when there is even the slightest plausible deniability, anything you can cling to, to make sure yourself feel like you're not the villain.
Inde Navarrette was unbelievable in the movie, and beyond the original screen play, and the completely unhinged visuals, she carried the film. She was charasmatic and charming as herself and absolutely terrifying as the possessed.
The movie kept you wondering how much further the obsession could go, how much more could she debased herself, how much longer would the main guy allow it to continue. Everytime it managed to surprise and disturb. Throughout the movie they kept the light air and occasional humor which kept the movie from spiraling into outright darkness and holds to Barkers comedic roots.
Obsession is one of the best times I can remember having in theatres and I'd recommend it to anyone, whether they like horror or not, it deserves to be watched. Great movie, and an amazing directorial debut.
