Weapons
Weapons is a hybrid movie in that it has a variety of elements and does each piece well, its got great thriller/mystery components, it's got comedic moments, and of course with the air of a horror film in that you expect death around every corner. All these elements and the story being told from multiple perspectives made it all very enjoyable with several scenes that will stick with me for a while (Alex's parents at the table- the mom with the scissors, the kids chasing Gladys) and they had great performances from the cast with relatable characters. It just felt like the movie was on the edge of something great, similar to long legs in many ways, it just felt like it needed a bit of something extra to truly cement it as a top tier film, what that missing piece is though, I don't know. Maybe a bit more focus on the horror piece, maybe a more fleshed out ending? In any case it's a thoroughly enjoyable movie that I think most people will get a kick out of, but it might be worth waiting for a streaming option.
