Sinners
i didnt care abt this movie until today, like yes i saw a thing or two of the promo tour but i had no intention of watching it, today i found out it was coming out today and decided to go to the first screening available with a friend, i dont like horror movies, i dont like stories about vampires and all of that but let me tell you i do not regret watching it one bit.
i doubted about giving it 5 stars because the vampires look a bit tacky i can do that red eyes effect in capcut but since apart from that everything else is amazing i will shut up.
this is michael b jordan’s best ever performance and everyone else in the cast is also insane, i’d highlight miles caton as sammie and wunmi mosaku as annie but everyone deserves their flowers.
apart from the acting, cinematographically its sooo good, amazing camerawork, shots, colors and the two sequence scenes are love letters to the craft of making cinema. seriously jawdropping.
the characters are loveable and so well built that you feel their pain till the very last seconds, the music and the silenced piece it all together so well you can feel how much thought went into it and most of all i have to praise the story and what it symbolizes, this is not a movie about vampires, this is a movie about people, community, family, history, music and so much more, thats why i can overlook that white man flying out of nowhere.
this experience is why i love the cinema so much, the spontaneity, the great movie, expecting the unexpected and of course michael b jordan’s big arms :)
