16 [***my favs***](https://boxd.it/xfyVe) I simply rate based on how much fun I had, not how good a movie is

La nostalgia que me ha dado es increíble

Not a rewatch but I have to take a star out, Nolan you’re a great director but an awful writer. First of all, I don’t care about the nationality of any of the actors (and yes, Helen can be black because she literally came from an actual egg), I care about their looks. Matt Damon is a really good actor but he does not look Greek or even Mediterranean, and the same goes for Anne Hathaway. He chose the most “white american” looking actors ever. I can tolerate Tom Holland and Robert Pattinson, though. Then we have the innacuracies, how come he left out major points of Homer’s story? Where are Zeus, Poseidon, or Aeolus? But even worse, where’s Hermes? His role is so important for the events to happen, and he wasn’t even mentioned. And why did he choose to portray Calypso like that? Charlize Theron, you’re beautiful and a good actress, but you look too modern for this movie. And what I find even worse is her island, how is that supposed to be paradise? And don’t tell me that Matt Damon was drugged by the lotus flower, because that never happened in the real story. Calypso had so much depth and story as a character, and the only Calypso thing Charlize Theron had was the name. And don’t even get me started with the female characters. I’m aware Nolan is recognized for his poor writing of women, but considering that it’s an adaptation of a book/poem that has such complex and well written female characters, the way he portrayed them is just lazy. I’m not used to write reviews like this, so it looks like all I do is complain, but despite all of that, I really liked the movie. There wasn’t a single minute when I wasn’t fully focused on the screen, every scene felt so capturing and meaningful. I mean, it’s Nolan, so the cinematography is just incredible. You could take a picture of any frame and it would turn out beautiful. Same goes for the soundtrack and sound effects, they were perfect. And returning to Robert Pattinson, not only did he look great (as in his, his face and features actually looked like the ancient greek sculptures), but his performance? Couldn’t have done it better. He completely convinced me that his character was a pathetic liar and an absolute manipulator. I hated his character, but not gonna lie, if I was Penelope I would’ve had folded… just a little bit. The other performances were great too, unfortunately we couldn’t see much of Zendaya, but she was just outstanding. With only her face (card), she portrayed emotions that didn’t need any words. And I love the theory that when Matt Damon saw that girl getting beheaded, he felt the guilt of what he had done, so he started picturing Athena like her. My only complain about it is that if it’s true, then not even Athena was real, and it was all in Matt Damon head. Oh and the Cyclops scene was so good. In some sort of way, he actually looked real, and innocent too, which I think is important, he was just a baby. But how can I forget the fact that Matt Damon didn’t say his name was “Nobody”, like why in the world wouldn’t you put that in the movie? Finally all I have left to say is that as a movie itself it’s great, movie of the year probably, but as an adaptation? It’s laughable.

why didn’t they sing

This is the only dark romance i’ll accept
