Authentic, immersive moments in film have always fascinated me. When a director is able to blur the lines between fiction and reality it is incredibly powerful. Kiarostami blends documentary with reenactment and uses a cast comprised of the story’s real characters creating something truly special. Its realism amplifies the film’s emotion to a profoundly personal level. Close-Up makes me think deeply about my relationship and identity with art.
