Silence
Probably THE most underrated Scorsese,
This movie has truly marked me and left a scar on me. It was really interesting to see how this part of history is totally not covered in class and at school yet it is so interesting. I was truly terrified at the start of the movie with the silence and how the Japanese were after them and could find them at any given moment. Scorsese portrayed really well how the Japanese people did the most horrendous things to the Portuguese Jesuits, but also in some way the Japanese had their reasons. Anyway, you take that movie on how you perceive Christianity overall which is why it is so great. The deafening silence, the beautiful Asian landscapes and the amazing acting of Andrew Garfield which really made me understand that he was not spiderman anymore. In addition, I particularly enjoyed the whole philosophy of the movie on how it was mainly revolving around humanity vs religion. This movie is about sacrifice, faith and survival. Truly one of my favorites and could end in my top four.
