Has Uma Thurman had a single movie in the past decade where she hasn’t put on some fuckass accent?! Girl WHAT are they paying you???

Watch a movie with notably great practical effects My sister and I had originally planned to see this in IMAX, but every showing at the Bullock theater through to next week was completely sold out, so we opted for Dolby Cinema instead and still had a great time. I fear I am slightly too pessimistic to allow myself to become fully swept up in a high-stakes sci-fi story with this much immense hope for humanity, but it’s nice to try and imagine a world united and working together toward a greater good for a couple of hours. Visually, *Project Hail Mary *is a triumph. There were moments of pure, unadulterated beauty sprinkled in here, especially the infrared Astrophage sequence that felt like flying through a sparkling whirlpool. Every color was so saturated, and I noticed what felt like several visual homages to *2001: A Space Odyssey*. The sets and puppetry here were otherworldly. It’s alarmingly refreshing to see a space movie made so practically in 2026, and I think the fact that Ryan Gosling was spinning around a bonafide, 360-degree spaceship set made it so much easier to sink into the movie and truly believe every situation he encountered here. Having Rocky be a real puppet also elevated every interaction he shared with Gosling, too. They were really hugging, really interacting, and it was fascinating to behold. Obviously, this entire project was helped along by tons of fantastic digital effects work as well, but what a marvel to see so much practical craftsmanship and artistry on display in a modern blockbuster like this. The plot was where things snagged for me, though. Astrophysics is far from my strong suit, so I felt a bit in over my head during some of the more science-heavy scenes, and the story in general just felt like it had been chopped up a bit for the sake of a tighter runtime. Perhaps this is an issue that could be fixed with a longer director’s cut or something, and I’m not opposed to giving that a shot should it become available, even though I definitely felt the runtime during the theatrical cut. Overall, glad I caught this in theaters, and especially in a premium format. It’s lovely to see inventive, unique stories play out so successfully, and I hope that *Project Hail Mary*’s box office success is a positive omen for the future of similarly original films.

This is 100% the kind of shit I could see happening at Athropologie. The girls there just give me that kind of vibe. Overall, this was lame as hell, until the very end where it blatantly ripped off *Final Destination 4*, and then it became plain stupid. I was also expecting things to be significantly gayer than they turned out to be, so I ultimately wound up feeling queer-baited, too. > *“Hiding mini bottles of vodka under cowboy hats is a problem, babe.” > “It was GIN.” > “Still a problem.” > “It’s TEXAS, what else is there to fucking do?”*

Watch the earliest-added movie in your watchlist A really interesting meditation on memory and love and the lengths we are willing to go to protect the people we care about, while at the same time also being an oddly tender satire about media suppression and consumerism. This is the kind of film that would be so easy to turn cynical, but the tone remains sentimental and warm throughout. *“The future was in our hands, uncertain and promising.” *
