The magic you see on the screen becomes so much more once you know the amount of effort put into this project. It is truly a one of a kind film.

Criminally underrated

My grandma lore dropped that she saw this in theaters when it came out. Expectedly she said it was inappropriate and I shouldn’t watch it.

The power of the sacrifice is the cost of the one making it This is now Nolan’s 13th film in a 28 year career. He has done Sci-fi movies, a War flick, a Biopic, a drama thriller, a Comic book trilogy, and a steam punk drama about magicians. And while this is a very wide range of genres and styles each one in their own way has prepared him and came together to craft this Epic. The non-liner storytelling of memento, the world building of Dunkirk, the practical effects of the Dark Knight, the well written lead character of Oppenheimer, hey he even snuck in the Loudness of Tenet, the same longing to get home that interstellar has, the grand finish of the prestige. All his work coming together for him to deliver one of his best pieces he has constructed. Man did he really dig deep in his bag. I mean do I start with the 40 foot cyclops or the army of giant knights. He keeps you on your toes around each corner of conflict, filled with surprises and incredible practical effects. I did not see that pig scene coming out of Nolan. If we could get a Horror Flick of Dante’s Inferno that would be unreal. He really immerses you in this journey. I felt placed in the shoes of one of his soldiers. The regret. The burden of your past actions. The guilt of surviving. The longing to get home. But, I wish I felt more. Maybe I’m being picky. But I never felt that emotion I was really yearning for. I wanted to feel some sort of grief or elated when he finally reunites. I think the very fast pacing could be the blame for this. At the end of the day this is Nolan’s Odyssey This is his careers work built into one piece And is a film that will be talked about for generations
