Resurrection

THE GREATER THE FEAR, THE GREATER THE DESIRE.  i wish i could write this entirely in chinese but i know i could never do it justice, i might just try anyway.  the only film ever of all time!! resurrection as a love letter to cinema, for the longest time a movie hasn’t moved me to tears but resurrection did just that. the ending was so gorgeous that i needed a moment to compose myself when the lights came on - i felt as if i had floated away from my body.  the cinematography enraptured me from the opening sequence and the music by m83 just drew me deeper in with every vignette.  bi gan is a master of evoking memories, when the girl sang 玉兰花 at the karaoke i saw myself as a not-yet 17 year old at the teo heng ktv surrounded by ghosts of my past. that was a different girl and a different life.   with the ending sequence i felt myself reaching into the past present and future all at once, interconnected with all of cinema and humanity. these are our dreams, our sins, and our desires.  我的灵魂同时感受到我们的梦想，我们的罪，我们的愿望。
