Aftersun

DO NOT WATCH AT 4 AM! a second watch was almost as enriching as the first because i had the context of the ending and knew what the movie was. i think i was able to pinpoint why i love it so much.  we all have those people in our lives like callum who put on a brave face outwardly but are always still an arms length away. the portrayal of mental health in this film is beautifully understated and painfully accurate. callum loved his daughter and her opinion of him more than himself which is what makes it so heartbreaking. because she loved him so much despite his hardships.
