3 Idiots
i feel like i'm giving out too many 5 star ratings, but this movie 100% deserved it.
after literally all of my friends recommended this to me, i finally sat down and watched the entire 3-hour runtime of this film, and it was really fuckin worth it.
although i'm not from india, i can still relate to the "pressure cooker" environment of school and home lives that 3 idiots depicts; with pressure coming from family, teachers, and peers to succeed in life by pursing a career in STEM. even when i almost flunked out of my physics and math classes, i still felt an obligation to become an engineer, because i thought it was the only way i'd be able to make money after college.
but, recently, i decided to take a complete 180, and pursue english rather than engineering.
was it a hard decision to make? definitely. did it disappoint my parents? a little, at first. do i regret it? absolutely not.
the thing i learned from that experience was the main message of this movie: to pursue your passion, and success will follow close behind. don't listen to what your friends, parents, or anyone else in life tell you to do. do what you want, and you'll be greatly rewarded.
