157 minutes of a movie hammering it into your skull that you cannot beat the billionaires in a game of chess cause they’ll just hire lawyers to beat you with a hammer till you sacrifice your queen. Terrible analogy but you get the drift.
Crowe Pacino and Plummer give their three best performances in this movie. This is also the best Michael Mann movie. They really could’ve ended this movie after the deposition scene in act 2 but they needed to tell the whole story. They needed to show that big corporations will drive men like Jeffrey to the point of mental exhaustion. The men who put a bullet in the mailbox can go home and take a shower and get a good nights rest. The man who opens his mailbox won’t close his eyes the same way again. Not many movies get better than this
