this movie is such great representation for anyone that’s ever been SA’D or raped or anything of that sorts. I love how movies such as this that cover really sensitive topics use analogy’s to tell a story such as the tree’s that mellisa focused on throughout the whole movie, it represents growth because in the beginning she didn’t want to draw the tree since she already learned how to, and she also was silent and didn’t speak to anyone about when she was raped, but at the end she ended up discovering new methods to drawing that tree and ends up speaking to people about what she went through that night. it just shows her growth from innocence, to traumatized, to healing. i don’t know something about this movie just speaks to me in a way. we need more modern day movies to cover such serious topics in ways such as this that feel realistic and relatable to their intended audience. i honestly really want to put this movie in my top 4 (highly considering it) this is such a well made story and also im glad that her friend (i forgot her name, rachel?) ended up believing her in a way even if she was shocked at first and didnt want to believe what she had heard. i really want to do a deep analysis on this genre of movies because its my favorite.
