Fascination
A gorgeous film, yet not nearly as tight as expected. It plays like a surrealist fairytale, with scenes rolling into one another, a dreamy aesthetic, and an almost nonsensical (or almost irrelevant) plot. While I wouldn't describe this film as feminist, nor progressive in terms of sapphic representation, there are interesting things it has to say about power roles. Specifically the reversal between men and women in this film, but also the play on class. The messaging seems a little muddled as the script itself is muddled. There is something charming about this film, especially with the relationship between Eva and Elisabeth, which I wish they would've expanded on.
