CureChandler Pettis9.7· May 20, 2024FollowProbably the most discomforting film I’ve ever seen. The sound design is incredible. The cinematography of the film works perfectly with the sound design to make the viewer feel disturbed, almost hypnotized in a fashion similar to those we see within the film. This is truly unique from anything I’ve ever seen. Such a complex and fascinating antagonist, and I found the idea that the protagonist survived the entirety of the film because he was so frustrated with his life that he refused to talk about it so compelling. The fact that Mamiya convinces these completely sane people to commit atrocities simply by asking them “who are you” says something about the society that we live in. Our identities are so central to how we live our lives yet they are also so fragile and complicated, an idea explored in Cure. All around, such a thought provoking and complex film and it is so unique and genius. Please go watch this if you haven’t.CommentsSign in to react and join the conversation.Sign inGet the app
