Chainsaw Man

As my first introduction into anime… it was fucking amazing. Truly one of the greats when it comes to shows in general, let alone anime. Might be the first project where the protagonists motive is to fondle boobs and get pussy, but that’s what’s life about, you know? The whole show all around was brilliant, but for me, shit hit the fan in the last 3 episodes and really started to show its prime in this section. It’s solid introduction to all of the characters was a true cornerstone to this amazing finale, and just brilliant written character development for Denji and Aki Hayakawa through and through. And the fact that looking up online if Denji getting laid, is actually a massive spoiler for the show, just shows how greatly the writers cooked up a storm on this one.  Years ago I tried out anime for the first time, trying out the likes of My Hero Academia and Naruto but they just didn’t click for me, which is why I didn’t think I’d like anime in the general sense of its shite. Then this by far proved the conclusion wrong. It’s just the more intense goriness and subversive chaos that separates itself from all of the other anime. The fights are a lot more brutal and intense with higher stakes and each character having their own specialties and uniqueness just makes it that more interesting and an all round better fight. But all and all, I could never disrespect the original Pokémon anime show. That’s a show nobody can overcome in greatness. And another thing that sets aside the other anime from this one is the sheer unpredictability in the characters and storyline. One second everything seems alright and Denji is going about his day, trying to get laid, then all of a sudden it fucking hits you. You don’t know what, but it just did. And that’s what keeps you on your toes for literally the entire show, which was just immaculate plot writing.  The true cornerstone to the greatness of this show is the entire concept, which is just fucking insane and absolutely brilliant. The entire concept is that everyone’s fears become physical devils that just roam the streets. But the thing is, the more that thing is feared, the stronger the devil is. And there could be devils for absolutely anything as long as it’s feared. For instance spiders is much more feared than feet, so the spider devil is going to be more powerful than the foot devil. And the entire show revolves around trying to hunt down the gun devil, that is the most feared thing so it’s going to be the most powerful above all. And basically The protagonist, Denji, has a choice of becoming an officer hunting down devils and killing them, or to be viewed at as a devil and be killed. So Denji, wanting to fondle boobs, decides to join the force. And he is known as a Hybrid; body and emotion of a human, and heart of a devil. And there are multiple like him fighting in force.  Also a great factor is that humans can make contracts with the devils in order to help them kill other devils, with just a small fee of one of your  body parts. And the amazing thing about this show is that the devils don’t have to be solid objects, they can be figments of your imagination or just abstract. Like the future devil or the eternity devil, which I think is amazing as it gives such more variety and creativeness to the devils. And hear me out but that eternity devil story arc where the two episodes were in that hotel, was just one of my favorite plot lines that converted away from the main story for a while, in tv show history. I know it’s wild, but I just took a great liking to it. The characters were great, Denji pushing to his limit and an amazing concept all rolled into two episodes.  But now I’m truly excited for the Chainsaw Man Reze ark and will definitely be checking it out in the days to come. And I do like how’s its a direct follow on from the show, just to spice it up a little and it’s done not very often either. And that last fight scene in the finale on the train where Denji fights Katana man, was legendary. After failing the first time, never give Denji a chance, even with no arms. As he will fucking grow a chainsaw out of his god damn leg and slice you in half. Just to keep this in mind. And I can only imagine what the gun devil will look like in Reze Ark, as I can only presume it’s going to look like something straight out of AOT.  Overall this was a brutal, gritty, and relentless piece of art that just sets itself aside from other anime and isn’t afraid of putting itself out there which is what makes it ten times better than the others. I highly recommend this masterpiece, even if you think anime is corny. As that’s what I thought, and clearly I’ve had a change of mind.
