As someone who loves the book dearly, it honestly warms my heart to see this adapted with so much heart. Judging the film on its own, the relationship between Grace and Rocky is really the heartbeat of this movie and I think that's really where this movie shines the most. Ryan Gosling's performance is fantastic and the practical effects used for rocky brought him to life beautifully. There were a few moments where I wish the film would let certain moments and shots breath especially with how amazing the cinematography from Greg Frasier was. And there were other times in certain moments I felt like there could have been more sense of urgency or tension but those are just nitpicks. Overall I thought this was really good and the kind crowd pleasing blockbuster we need more of!
