Superman
James Gunns Superman soars onto screens in undeniable style, although not without its issues Gunns attempt at the Man Of Steel is admirable and fun, being a perfect starting point to Gunn’s DCU, Their very own Iron Man in its own way. In my personal opinion however I do feel that the movie begins at a very odd point, almost as if the movie started already half hour in, but it wasn’t distracting enough to the point where it took away from my enjoyment of the movie. David Corensweet was a great choice to play the last son of krypton and he wears the suit with all the swagger of Cavill combined with the hope of Reeves. The two main leads David Corensweet and Rachel Brosnahan are great, the chemistry between them is there and the relationship feels real, as does the ones they share with the other people in their lives, The supporting cast were very fun, Jimmy Olsen is a great character and fun to watch as he stumbles around trying to do the right thing whilst girls trip over their heels to get at him, Nathan fillion brings a big middle finger to the movie as Guy Gardner and its great, his interactions with Superman are fun to watch and the Justice gang as a whole are very enjoyable, Mr terrific is funny and dry witted whilst the Jackal was straight to the point. The standout of this movie for me however was Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, the sheer hatred and anger he brought towards Superman into the role was great, what is a superhero movie without its villains after all? And I’m happy to say Nicholas Hoults Lex Luthor gave me the same level of enjoyment as Dafoes Goblin or Molinas Doc Ock. Gunn brings the sincerity of the Sam Raimi spiderman trilogy with the blockbuster effects of the modern comic book movie, once again, the Gumn didn’t jam.
