Looking for Alaska

this show feels weirdly impossible to rate because there was some points where i felt like i just couldnt keep going bc of how alaska as a character felt like almost a disservice to this show, like the writing for her at times was just so out of touch that it made me mad At Her even though i know i was supposed to be sympathizing with her, but there were other times where the writing for her (and other characters) felt so fucking real and earnest it hurt. spent the whole last episode off and on crying bc the writers did at least nail grief and the actors were just phenomenal, denny love specifically had me weeping when he finally broke down over alaska's death. i did also appreciate that lara wasn't just written out after her and pudge stopped being a thing and i thought her and takumi were a cute concept but there was literally no substance which makes me sad, wouldve loved to have seen them actually form a connection rather than getting like 1 scene where he comforts her and then next thing we know theyre together. i also kind of wish pudge and alaska never hooked up at all but who rly gaf. i appreciate that this show actually built up some of the adult characters to support the teens, that was refreshing considering most shows just have every adult be antagonistic or completely clueless. shoutout the eagle and dolores and dr hyde. this review blows, go watch the series if u wanna see good acting with mostly okay writing.
