i watched this movie whilst my dad sits in the room next to mine. he's comfortable, he's safe, he's sound, but — watching this movie made me think of how little interactions with him are actually so important. how easy you can take a vacation for granted just because you think it'll happen ever year : i now catch myself missing old vacations with him, reminiscing how they went, maybe even trying to find some album pictures later.
i was expecting something big from this movie as the ( current, and wonderful ) top review says, but nothing of sorts happened. and it was genuinely nice to see the moments between them, and their different struggles but god, focusing on calum was so extraordinary. the pressure, the evident struggle, the carelessness of his own life .. i don't know how i can put it in words, but it's a genuinely a deeply touching movie.
i'm really glad i watched this, because its extraordinary. and, it puts in perspective just how much parents can struggle without us noticing or knowing; & i love my dad, this movie just made me feel it so much deeper.
