Paul Thomas Anderson never fails to impress me. This movie is absolutely gorgeous. There are shots in this that are some of the most beautiful imagery I’ve ever seen put to film. The score is ever present, relentless and fits every scene perfectly. Easily his most ambitious movie that I’ve seen so far in terms of what he’s trying to achieve
Phillip Seymour Hoffman is phenomenal, as is to be expected. It’s Joaquin Phoenix’s portrayal as a troubled, hypersexual man looking for a place to belong however that really blew me away. I didn’t know he had a performance like this in him
