About a Boy
I usually write unfunny one liners but this was genuinely such a lovely movie. nicholas hoult was genuinely such a cutie in this movie and hugh grant and toni collette were equally as great in this movie. firstly, pretty much all of the will and marcus voiceovers were either hilarious or depressing. the soundtrack for this movie was lovely and I’m not even just talking about the fact that they had a 12 year old nicholas hoult sing shake ya ass to himself. I loved the scene where will got protective and felt bad about marcus getting bullied. not to mention nicholas hoult crying in the rain is one of the saddest things I’ve had to see. I’m shocked this movie’s average rating is 3.6, I really don’t see anything about this movie to not like. also randomly being reminded this was the same boy that would yell “1A, 1A, 1A!” very aggressively probably made this movie more funny. while the funny is this movie was funny, the sad in this movie hits hard. very happy that my mum recommended for me to watch this movie. the representation of mental illness and specifically how it can affect those around you was handled in my opinion very well, but the best performance for me was definetly nicholas hoult, my heart felt very warm after he’d signed up for the talent show. im going to make a list of books I’d like to read after I’ve watched the movie (so far the only movies on that list being this and Trainspotting) anyways, this movie is a definitive five out of five stars. forgot to mention earlier and don’t know where to fit it but Marcus and his mum singing killing me softly with his song made me laugh so hard, I couldn’t stop. also why hugh grant in this movie kinda…😛
