Gladiator
“You’re home”
Such a simple story woven into an eloquent epic beautifully crafted by Ridley Scott. Maximus is enduring, hope, vengeance, and the people’s will. Such a timeless story and film. Russell Crowe is beyond outstanding and plays his character, Maximus, to the pinnacle of acting, fully embracing him. Every battle scene is shot so well and the score is so amazing.
“The general who became a slave. The slave who became a gladiator. The gladiator who defied an emperor.”
With Maximus slobbering on his dead wife’s feet, you’d think this was a Tarantino film though 😭.
"My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, loyal servant to the true emperor Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next".
